NCOP Visits Moretele’s Infrastructure Service Delivery Projects!*THE National Council of Provinces (NCOP) Permanent Delegates are pleased with the work being done by the Moretele Local Municipality in delivering essential services to its residents.The delegates visited Moretele today, Thursday, 20 November 2025, as part of their celebrations for Provincial Week, which started on 17 November and concludes tomorrow, Friday, 21 November 2025, in the North West.Accompanied by members of the North West Legislature, Moretele Mayor Hon. Cllr Masango George Manyike, Hon. Speaker Cllr Freda Mapela, IDS Chairperson Hon. Cllr Maggie Moetjie, Cllr Sefofu, Ward 20 Cllr Phetogo Letlape, Ward 22 Cllr Dipuo Sithole, Ward 15 Cllr Tebogo Skosana, Municipal Manager Mr. Sipho Ngwenya, and IDS Director Mr. Pholoso Molautsi, the delegation conducted site visits to various infrastructure service delivery projects. These included newly paved internal roads in Ward 22 and Ward 13, as well as a 1.5 megalitre steel tank site in Ward 15.In Ward 22, Danhause, the group walked along a newly constructed 1 km paved road equipped with a stormwater drainage system, which was completed in just three months, well within the allocated five-month period set for February 2026. The delegates learned that only approximately R8 million of the allocated R10 million budget was spent on the project.This year’s NCOP Provincial Week is celebrated under the theme: “Building Viable Municipalities for Enhanced Delivery of Basic Services to Communities.”According to NCOP Chairperson Hon. Sithole, a report on their visit to Moretele will be drafted, featuring recommendations. He emphasized the need to address all blocked infrastructure projects, including RDP houses. “We appreciate the work the Municipality is doing and are very pleased with its progress. We also require a comprehensive report on all your blocked projects, detailing the challenges, allocated budgets, any remaining balances, and your future objectives. This information will be included in a report that we prepare for our sessions in parliament.”In response, Hon.
