The Mayor of Moretele Local Municipality held imbizo in Noroki Village, where the mayor was accounting to the communities.
Residents from multiple wards within the municipality had the opportunity to directly engage with Mayor Cllr Masango George Manyike accompanied by his executive committee and councillors at the Nyorwe Sports Ground. These gatherings, commonly known in South Africa as “imbizos,” are designed to provide a platform for community members to raise concerns, ask questions, and receive updates on service delivery and development plans.
By bringing together wards such as 26, 20, 08, 23, 09, and others, the session promoted a broader and more inclusive discussion, rather than focusing on individual ward-level issues. Key topics raised during the event included infrastructure, water, sanitation, housing, electricity, roads, and local economic opportunities.
The Mayor also allowed communities to voice their service delivery challenges and emphasized the importance of participatory governance at grassroots level.“ This kind of events serves as a meaningful example of local government working with its communities,“ said the mayor.
