• The Electoral Commission of South Africa has announced that Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June 2026 as the official voter registration weekend for the upcoming local government elections.

• Voting stations will open from 08h00 to 17h00 on 20 and 21 June 2026. New voters will get an opportunity to register, and existing voters can update their registration details.

• You are eligible to register to vote if you are:
o A South African citizen
o at least 16 years old (you can only vote from age 18) and
o In possession of a green bar-coded ID book, smart ID card or temporary identity certificate.
