Moretele Mayor: Stirring the Winds of Change….

Six internal roads have been completed, and additional service delivery projects are underway!

MORETELE Local Municipality has successfully completed over 6 km of paved internal roads across six wards.

The new roads have received praise from Troika members, councillors, residents, and community leaders, who have commended the high quality of workmanship.

This feedback occurred during the handover visits, referred to as “Nnetefatso, Re bona ka mahlo,” on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The internal roads are located in the following wards:

  • Ward 01 (Little Trust)
  • Ward 21 (Kgomo-Kgomo)
  • Ward 17 (Phase 1 Seaparankwe Clinic)
  • Ward 12 (Phase 2)
  • Ward 19 (Phase 2 internal road)
  • Ward 13 (Carousel View internal road, Phase 5)

The Mayor, Hon. Cllr Masango George Manyike, was accompanied by Hon. Speaker Cllr Freda Mapela, Hon. Chief Whip, Hon. IDS Chairperson, Hon. CDS Chairperson, Hon. IPD and PMS Chairperson, as well as councillors from Wards 01, 21, 20, 17, 19, and 13, including Cllrs Mamadi, Sefofu, and Moselane.

Also in attendance were SANCO NEC member Cde Nki Manamela, local headmen, Pastor Mokumo, and several SANCO members.

The Mayor encouraged residents to take care of the roads, now that they are completed. “More services will come, not only to your wards but to other wards in Moretele,” he stated.

Resident Ntate Johannes Munyai from Ward 13 expressed his joy about the newly paved road, saying, “Having lived in this section of Carousel View for 31 years, we have always hoped for a paved road with road signs and a storm water drainage system. Now, we finally have one.”

Another Ward 13 resident, Mpho Ngoepe, who is also a picture and tile engraving artist, presented a portrait of the Mayor as a token of appreciation for the new road. “I am thrilled because our old road was in terrible condition, and now our long-standing request has been fulfilled. This is my way of saying thank you to the Mayor,” he remarked.

The Mayor and his team will continue with the handover of water reticulation projects in Wards 15 and 16 tomorrow, Friday, along with the opening of the Ward 18 recreational park in Lefatlheng, where Mandela Day celebrations will be held.
