THE saying “communication can make or break relationships” highlights the crucial role of effective communication in building and maintaining healthy relationships, whether at home or in the workplace.
That is what the Communication Workshop organized by the Office of the Municipal Manager Communication’s Unit intended to address.
The workshop emphasized on the role of good communication, communication barriers, types of communication including but not limited to the positive and negative impacts of social media.
Addressing a packed Municipal Hall, Communication’s Manager, Mr. Mothupi Malebye explained the cultural behaviour before social media took over people’s lives.
He explained that social media if used incorrectly, can potentially lead to decreased quality time, unrealistic expectations, and decreased face-to-face communication.
Municipal officials took turns to appreciate the workshop and requested another one where their superiors and political leadership can be in attendance.
The workshop was closed with a quiz where two lucky winners won prizes following questions that came from the workshop points before everyone was treated to a nice braai meat lunch.
